Raisin' Cain

"Texans -- now and forever -- love their trucks, good country music, and Saturday nights."

Lay your burdens down
Put on your dancin' boots
Head for the bright lights of town
Yes I'm a fool for them high lonesome sounds

I got my gabardine clean, cut my sideburns low
And I cashed my two week check, fellas I'm ready to roll
Thirty miles to that honky tonk up that road

Well now some ol' A.M. DJ's playin' Lefty Frizzell on my Delco
Ain't much changed in the last 30 years
Since Momma and Daddy were doin' the same down that road
The times change, but the folks stay the same
Livin' and lovin' just dealin' with the pain
Lovin's as fine as sunshine
But raisin' Cain's as right as rain

I pulled up, let her off at them swingin' doors
No valet touches my truck, it's my pride and joy
Well it's hard for a working man to give up a thirty thousand dollar toy

I walked in, chewed the fat with a couple of the boys
Knocked back a few, then she got me out on that floor
I jitterbugged so hard the next day I was sore

Well now some ol' A.M. DJ's playin' Lefty Frizzell on my Delco
Ain't much changed in the last 30 years
Since Momma and Daddy were doin' the same down that road
The times change, the folks stay the same
Livin' and lovin' just dealin' with the pain
Lovin's as fine as sunshine
But raisin' Cain's as right as rain
