Arkansas Chrome (Duct Tape Song)

"I wrote this on tour with the Supersuckers. We were at this filling station, when a trucker came in and said that his back windshield was blown out and he needed some duct tape. The attendant looked at him and said, 'All the arkansas chrome is in back of the store.' It's a great metaphor for holding your life together."

Well, 100 miles an hour in the ghost lane
500 horsepower won't take away my pain
So I'm driving it home
I took a shotgun blast to the back windshield
It's all taped up with my last roll of Arkansas Chrome

Well a poor lost honky on a two-way
Met a lot lizard at the Last Chance truckstop cafe
She was mean to the bone
Well she broke my fool heart in two
But I'm holding it together with a strip of Arkansas Chrome

Well it's show, blow, get the dough,
Pop a pill and try to drive back home
And my leather dash is crackin' fast
But I'll stop it with a strip of Arkansas Chrome

So I lost two hours in a bad rain
Trucker report outta Shreveport says it's a hurricane
That's already blown
That ol' rebel rain's slippin' through the cracks
But I'm holding it back with my trusty Arkansas Chrome
